General Information

The Leeds neurology department is based at Leeds General Infirmary with an acute ward (ward 21) and a day case unit there. Ward 21 is on G floor, Jubilee wing. The consultants, registrars and secretaries are based in offices in Martin wing, floors E to G.

There are (usually) 5 registrars and 5 'SHOs' (FY and CTs) working in the department as well as the staff listed above. Ward 21 in the Jubilee wing on G floor. The Day Case Unit is also here. There are 29 beds. They are split into 5x 4-bedded bays, 2x 2-bedded bays and 5x side rooms. One of the side rooms has equipment for video telemetry (VT) and is usually reserved for Dr Goulding and Dr Maguire's VT patients only. There are 4 day case beds. We occasionally have 'outliers' on the neurosurgical wards on G floor or in HDU/ITU. Outpatient clinics are held at LGI, and Seacroft with additional clinics run by Leeds neurology consultant staff at district hospitals. There is a team office at the end of the ward where the SHOs can write up their notes and use the computer to look up the results of investigations or for MEDLINE, web journals etc.
